Leading antique galleries and private collections from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other Russian cities, as well as from Italy, the USA, Scotland and other countries will participate in the Russian Art & Antique Fair at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall.
It will be held in Moscow under the patronage of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Culture Department of Moscow and the International Confederation of Art and Antique Dealers Associations.
Visitors will see rare works of art, masterpieces of Russian and West European painting and sculpture, objects of decorative and applied arts, antique furniture and jewelry art. Contemporary art and design galleries are also participating in the project.
Russian Art & Antique Fair is a project that is bringing together classical and contemporary art. Russian and foreign galleries, as well as private collections will present works of exceptionally high artistic value.
Russian Art & Antique Fair aims at preserving and popularizing the world and national cultural heritage, promoting Russian art, and encouraging the development of public and private collections. RA & AF is planning to hold an act of donating art works from the collection of the International Confederation of Art and Antique Dealers Associations to the state museums of Moscow.
Within the framework of the exhibition, a business and educational program will be held. Excursions with the participation of art critics will be organized for visitors of the exhibition fair. Particular attention will be paid to the history of Russian art.
SPECIAL EXPOSITION of RA&AF - "THE HISTORY OF ONE COLLECTION"
The International Confederation of Antiquarians and Art Dealers Associations will present the exposition "The History of One Collection". It will display art works gathered by several generations of collectors of the 19th – 20th centuries.
This exhibition traces the history of the development of Russian art from the early 19th to the late 20th century. The 19th century is represented with paintings by famous Russian artists – Ivan Aivazovsky, Vassoly Polenov, Nikolay Sverchkov, Valentin Makovsky, and others. The 20th century canvases are those by N.N. Dubovsky, S.A. Vinogradov, K.A. Somov, K.I. Gorbatov, S.V. Chekhonin, etc. Soviet art is represented with the works by Grigory Nysski, Alexander Deineka, and other outstanding masters.
In addition, the exposition includes unique objects of decorative and applied art and furniture from the 17th-19th centuries.
SPECIAL EXPOSITION of RA&AF - CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION “LIVING TOGETHER”
In the framework of the Russian Art & Antique Fair project, the best works of contemporary art will be displayed at the Living Together exhibition.
It aims to show not only the possibility, but also the need for generating a common communicative and visual field, where contemporary art, and the art of previous eras, as well as arts and crafts complement each other and become equal and full participants in the art market.
SPECIAL EXPOSITION RA&AF - RUSSIAN ICONPAINTING OF 16th-20th cc.
The art of Russian iconography has a thousand-year history. Its first centuries were marked with discipleship in the great Byzantine art tradition. From the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, when the famous isograph Andrei Rublev lived and created his masterpieces, the Russian icon reached higher heights that made it one of the greatest achievements of world culture.
