It is a fourth-generation robot with the linguistic database of more than 100 thousand speech modules in seven languages, capable of answering any questions from any field of knowledge.
Oleg Kivokurtsev, the development director of the Promobot Company, told about the robot guide to journalists during its presentation.
According to him, there are no other robots of the kind either in Russia or abroad, including in museum practice. "This is the first introduction of the 4G Perm robot version in Russia; it was earlier seen only by visitors of the CES 2018 in Las Vegas, the world's largest exhibition of innovations and consumer technology. Today, robots are not widely spread in museums around the world. There are several robots in museums of Dubai and Paris and there is a robot of the previous generation at the Museum of Modern History of Russia in Moscow. As for the fourth-generation robot, it exists only in Perm so far”, - Oleg Kivokurtsev said.
First Excursion Guided by Promobot
To become an "employee" of the exhibition space, the robot had to undergo special training. At the moment it is capable of guiding visitors from one exhibit to another, according to the map of the premises, and has all the information possible about the exposition of the Historical Park.
"We have created a unique interface so that you can interact with the robot. It contains complete database with all the information about the exhibits and exposition of the park. With the help of neural networks, the robot answers any questions as effectively as possible,” - the development director of Promobot project pointed out.
The appearance of Promobot somewhat reminds of the famous cartoon character Valley, though it is much larger in size, almost equal to the height of an average adult human. The robot has two screens, one of which serves as its "face", and the other is designed for displaying exposition materials.
Employees of the Historic Park believe that Promobot Guide will suit great amidst multimedia technological expositions. Before its presentation, Promobot held the first excursion in the Panoramic Hall of the Historical Park for schoolchildren who are enthusiastic about modern technologies. The robot greeted the guys, held a quiz and even led a series of exercises with them.
About the Historical Park
The historical park "Russia - My History, Perm Region" was opened in Perm on December 12, 2017. Multimedia expositions involving all the latest forms of information carriers, from light boxes, projectors and tablets to touch screens, screens, domed and panoramic cinemas are located in two historical sites of the city: in the restored buildings of the River Station and the Perm-1 railway station, which are facing each other, located on the banks of the Kama River. The building of the former railway station "Perm-1" houses a historical exposition on the era of the Rurikovichi’s reign, whereas the River Station hosts expositions dedicated to the reign of the Romanovs dynasty, the 20th century history and the Russian history from the end of the Great Patriotic War to the present day. The expositions are created with the use of video infographics, animation, 3D modeling and digital reconstructions techniques .
