The XVIII Open Russian Animated Film Festival in Suzdal

The XVIII Open Russian Animated Film Festival will be held in Suzdal from February 27 to March 3, 2013. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Administration of Vladimir region.

179 films were presented for the selection of the festival this year (largest amount of all years). 104 films were selected for the contest in six categories. The three panels of judges will work at the festival for the first time: the jury of author`s animation, the jury of commercial animation, the jury of pitching. Traditionally, the winners in each category will be determined by the recognized professionals in animation and related cinema professions: directors, composers and artists. The jury included many prominent figures of Russian cinema over the years: Fedor Khitruk Vladimir Zuikov, Alexander Zhukovsky, Eduard Nazarov, Lyudmila Petrushevskaya, Yuri Norstein, Valery Ugarov etc.

A hybrid library will be equipped at the festival for the first time; everyone will be able to see all the films submitted for the festival on the individual screen in this library.

In addition to the contest, information displays and panoramas, the festival will host round-table discussions, workshops and presentations. Within the frame of this year's festival Vladimir, Alexandrov, Sudogodsky, Sobinsky, Kovrovsky, Yuriev-Polsky and Suzdalsky districts will host the creative meetings of filmmakers with the audience, children`s animation celebrations and the charity event involving more than 3,000 participants.
