New Show of Born-Again Russian Ice Ballet
February 14, 2019 15:07

After a quarter of a century, the Russian Ice Ballet is returning to Russia with a new project under the title The Red Snowball Tree. It is an ice dance musical story about the people of this controversial and eternally resurgent country. Expressed through choreographic interpretation of historical events, it conveys the essence via the characters of favorite Russian films, folk songs, and classical music.
The renewed project to be demonstrated in Moscow and Saint Petersburg in March 2019, can be called legendary.

A
little less than three decades ago - at the end of 1991 - a project was created in Moscow with the purpose of combining figure skating and choreography. As a result, several performances based on both classical and modern music were presented to the public. The creative team successfully performed in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Tallinn, and then went on tour to the United States. However, despite the tremendous success with the American public, for financial reasons and due to a combination of adverse circumstances, the company had to stop their performances. Several of its participants entered into individual contracts with local ice shows.

The newly revived project “Russian Ice Ballet. Red Snowball Tree” will tell about the people of great destiny, cast-iron will, and unshaken resolutions. The ice musical show was inspired by the themes of popular Russian movies, folk songs, and classical Russian music.
About the Ice Ballet “Red Snowball Tree”
The new performance will consist of six consecutive parts, which are choreographically completed chapters, set to music by one or another composer or performer. The program was choreographed by Katerina Semenova-Neumann. Each subsequent chapter of the sequential program derives from the events of the previous one, thus creating an integral perception of a single musical narration.
Undoubtedly, the new show of the Russian Ice Ballet will appeal to lovers of musical and theatrical performances, as well as admirers of the circus, ice show, and figure skating. The best professional figure skaters and dancers are engaged in the program. For dancers, a special podium covering part of the ice will be arranged right on the skating rink.
