At the heart of the ballet libretto is a monument of medieval Arabic literature - a collection of fairy tales and parables, united by the story of Tsar Shahriyar and beautiful Scheherazade. Shahriyar will spend a thousand and one nights in the mesmerizing realm of the tales told by Scheherazade, before his mind overcomes hatred and he regains faith in love and goodness.
