The 71st anniversary since the Great Victory over fascism will be celebrated in Moscow with large-scale festive events, such as a military parade in the Red Square, a patriotic march called Immortal Regiment, music concerts, theatrical performances and excursions. The capital city of Russia will be decorated with thousands of flags, thematic installations and posters. Of course, the celebrations will be crowned with a traditional grand salute in the sky over Moscow.
On May 9 the festive events dedicated to the victory over Nazi will be held all over Russia and beyond. This is a perfect day to commemorate the immortal feat of those people who gave their lives away for the sake of our peace.
The grandest parade in honour of the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War will take place in the Red Square. Soldiers and officers of the Russian army will take part in demonstration of the country's military equipment and an air show with more than 70 aircrafts and helicopters in the sky over the Red Square. The entrance to the Red Square on May 9 will be limited: only persons with invitation cards are welcomed. However, the whole ceremony will be broadcasted on big screens set up in Moscow streets, as well as on several TV channels.
This year May 9 will see another mass patriotic action The Immortal Regiment carried out by family members of the soldiers lost in World War II. A group of people holding photos of their lost relatives will walk from the Dynamo metro station to the Moscow Kremlin.
Festive actions will take place in Moscow parks. For example, Soviet dances will be taught in the Gorky Park and the Museon Centre of Arts. Something special is going to happen in the Victory Park at Poklonnaya Gora (i.e. Hill of Respectful Salutation): a huge fiery flower will blossom there in honor of the 71st anniversary since the Victory. A charity marathon race will take place in Larisa Lazutina Park on this day.
An impressive festive salute will become the highlight of the holiday. Salute volleys will be fired from 16 platforms (in Poklonnaya Gora and Victory Park, the Olympic Luzhniki Complex, ENEA (Exhibition of National Economy Achievements), Lianozovo, Novo-Peredelkino, Izmailovo, Kuzminki Park, etc) and in 20 parks (Museon Park of Arts, Sokolniki, Tagansky Park, the Hermitage Garden and others). Salute will start at 10 pm and last for 10 minutes.
