Registration:
On arrival at the Russian border all foreigners must fill out an “immigration card”. This is a small white piece of paper perforated in the middle with a stamp of the date of arrival. Foreigners fill in the cards and one half is taken by the Russian border official. Please note! The other half must be retained for registration and exit formalities. Please ensure that the passport control official has placed a stamp on your immigration card. The stamp shows the date of arrival and is required for registration.
Migration cards are available on board international flights and in the airport at customs control.

All foreign citizens arriving in the Russian Federation are required to register within three days of arrival. Therefore, in addition to testing and the drawing up of a contract your visa will be registered. "Registration" is a stamp in migration card confirming a person's legal presence in Russia. Problems with the Russian immigration services and/or police may arise, if a foreigner is not properly registered.
The process of registration is taken care of by the Center's staff. We register only those student visas issued on the basis of invitations from the Center, and only for the length of time specified in the signed contract.

If a contract is extended will extend the visa registration as well. Registration extension requires that the passport and visa be brought to the Center's staff in office 114.

We do not register tourist or business visas, and we are not able to extent such visas. Tourist visas may be registered by students within two days after arrival at hotels in St. Petersburg. We will be happy to provide details about this process to students who might need such information.

It takes approximately five weeks to arrange an invitation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs charges for this service 32 USD. Every student should pay these expenses at the University cashier's office upon arrival. We kindly ask students to indicate the exact dates of arrival and departure to and from Russia. Making a new invitation with new dates will require extra fees and time.

The Center can send the invitation image by fax or the original invitation by courier express mail service (for extra fee). With the invitation a student should apply for the study visa at the Russian Consulate. This study visa will be for the same dates as the invitation. The study visa can be extended for the period of your study contract upon arrival.

The Center of Russian Language and Culture can arrange to pick up students at an airport or a railway station and then to bring them to the place of their accommodation. For this we ask students to confirm the arrival details (exact date, time, flight/train number) by e-mail 6 days before the arrival. If the flight/train is delayed our driver will wait for a student for 2 hours more. The Center cannot be held responsible for losses due to flight or train delay.

The University hotel is located at address: Kapitanskaya str., house 3 (room 8 - University Hotel Administration). If you have failed to find our driver at the airport/railway station (usually he holds a sign with the name of a student printed on it) please give a call to the Hotel staff (+812-352-42-87 or +812-352-24-28) before taking a taxi.

Medical treatment for foreign citizens in Russia is for a fee only. Generally our students arrive in Russia with their own health insurance policies. However, the Russian system has not yet integrated completely into international insurance system. Therefore if a student arrives with his/her own health insurance policy from his/her country only a few local medical facilities will be able to accept the policy in the event you fall ill and they will require additional payment. The university can provide you with a policy which guarantees medical care in the city's medical facilities. For extra information on University medical insurance apply to coordinators' office in room 114 on arrival.

Medical insurance is one of the most important items for any foreign traveler. In Russia almost all medical services are now fee based both for Russian citizens and foreigners. However, the Russian insurance system has not yet integrated completely into the international insurance system. Therefore, if you arrive with your own insurance policy from your own country, few Russian health care establishments will be able to accept the policy in case you fall ill, thus they will require additional payment.

For a moderate cost, we are offering all of our students who are studying here for more than four weeks the opportunity to purchase a Russian medical insurance policy. This is the same policy that all the staff and students of the university are covered by. The policy provides a guaranteed medical care in the city's medical facilities.

The costs are as follows:
  1. For those studying from five to seven weeks 30 euros
  2. For those studying from eight to eleven weeks 50 euros
  3. For those studying from twelve to twenty-four weeks 90 euros
  4. For those studying from six to twelve months 100 euros
Processing the insurance policy is done during the first three days after arrival during the visa registration in room 114.
