"Musical LIKBEZ", a new educational project starts on August 29 at the Central Museum of Musical Culture in Moscow.
“JAZZ style August" opens the series of concert lectures. A number of activities dedicated to entirely different musical styles from classical to avant-garde will be held at the Central Museum of Musical Culture during 2013/14 season.
Each month, the museum will acquaint museum visitors with the history of particular music genre, with its brightest representatives and will perform musical compositions that have become classics of covered style. The project targets audiences of all ages.
On August 29, "JAZZ style August" will start the educational project. “Musical instruments of the world” is on the key exhibition of the Central Museum of Musical Culture. Guests will listen to the jazz standards and fresh interpretations of well-known compositions performed by instrumental jazz band and will witness how theremin – an electronic musical instrument – makes jazz to sound right "in the air".
Besides musical component of the event, guests will enjoy other activities: a short excursus into the jazz history; presentation of classic jazz instruments such as alto saxophone, banjo, guitar, trumpet, violin, double bass, trombone and clarinet; lecture on famous jazz musicians who were born or passed away in August like Louis Armstrong, George Aramovich Garanyan, Leon Bismark "Bix" Beiderbecke, Jimmy Rushing, Lil Hardin Armstrong, Charlie Parker et al.; watching fragments from jazz films.
Jazz extravaganza starts at 19.00.

The second gathering of the "Musical LIKBEZ” project – “September Electric” (ANS synthesizer and theremin) – dedicated to electronic music will take place on September 19 at 19:00.
