The Russian State University for the Humanities is an educational institution training specialists in all areas of knowledge in the Humanities. Drawing upon more than three hundred years of Russian higher educational tradition, as well as the experience (and example) of two unique Russian educational institutions - Moscow Public University named after Alfons L. Shanyavsky and Moscow State Institute for History and Archives - the RSUH is a rightful heir to the traditions of these excellent institutions in its mission of reviving the atmosphere of spirit and culture in education.
The education and training of foreign citizens runs in following departments: History-Philology; Economics and Law; Museum Science; Philosophy; Theoretical and Applied Linguistics; Archival Studies; Scientific, Technical and Audiovisual Archives and Documents; Computer Science and Political Science.

Russian Language Center
Russian Language Center teaches Russian to foreigners according to programs of various durations and methods of teaching.
The Center specializes in the teaching of Russian:
- To those with basic or no knowledge of the language
- To those interested in the liberal arts and sciences
Students can chose programs with various difficulty levels and duration.
The Center is open all the year round and offers several instructional course options: - Extensive (1-2 semesters)
- Intensive (from 3 weeks to 3 months)
- Basic adaptive (6-12 days)
The duration and intensity of instruction can match needs of a student.

The Institute for European Cultures offers a supplementary course of study, which trains specialists in the field of "European Cultural Studies" (License of the Ministry for Education of the Russian Federation No. 16-001). The supplementary course of study takes two years to complete. The course offering is geared toward students who have already completed a course of study in either the humanities or the social sciences. Graduates of the IEC's supplementary course of study receive a diploma in the field of "cultural studies" with the specialization of "European cultures" which officially qualifies them as "teachers of cultural studies".
