February 19, 2015 18:17

The “Taiga Systems” LLC owned by InfoWatch of Natalya Kasperskaya has developed a smartphone with enhanced protection from cyber-espionage.

The TaigaPhone device which will be produced in China is meant only for corporate clients, according to the “Izvestia” newspaper. The company has already created a prototype of the limited-edition smartphone produced for testing. “No information from the device - photos, documents, telephone conversation, location data - cannot be obtained without the user’s knowledge” - the co-owner of the company Aleksei Nagorny commented.

The smartphone will run on the basis of Android, the platform has been redesigned and renamed as “Taiga”. According to Nagorny, users will be able to disable some system components by themselves. “For example, you can completely disable access to the camera or location data” – Nagorny explained.

“Or you can turn your phone into a “brick” able only to make calls”. The cost of the device is still unknown. Today Russian smartphones are presented on the market by the company Yota Devices. Already two generations of phones are released, it is expected that YotaPhone 3 will hit the stores within the next year and a half.
