1951—Anatoly Karpov, 12th World Chess Champion, is born.
He becomes grand master at the age of 19. On 3 April 1975 Anatoly becomes the World Chess Champion after the current World Champion Bobby Fisher refuses to defend his title. Karpov keeps the champion crown for 10 years.
