1955—The Baykonur cosmodrome is put in action.
The first-ever artificial satellite is launched from Baykonur (1957), as well as the first spacecraft carrying a man on board (cosmonaut Yury Gagarin, in 1961). Spacecrafts Vostok, Voskhod, Soyuz, orbital stations Salyut and Mir, and space systems Energiya and Buran, many artificial satellities and interplanetary spacecrafts.
