1882—The first telephone stations start functioning in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
People living in these cities get used to the new word “Hallo!” Only 26 people subscribers register on the first day.

1728—Vitus Bering takes off from Kamchatka heading North.
During this cruise he discovers a strait between Russia and America, which will be later named after him.
