1924—The International Day of Chess
The Federation Internationale des Eches (FIDE) is founded, and the day is celebrated as the International Day of Chess.

1886—Mikhail Lozinsky, Russian poet and translator, is born.
Lozinsky translates “The Divine Comedy”, Shakespeare, Molière and other authors.
