St. Petersburg lived Vikings life on May 14-16

Warriors dressed in armor and helmets fought at the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg.
The best representatives of Vikings military-historical clubs from St Petersburg, Moscow, Novgorod, Pskov and Yelets took part in the festival. Guests from Norwegian region Haugesund joined then. This town is famous for being the capital of Norwegian Vikings, founded by Harald Fairhair in 872.
These are very literate, trained and brilliant fighters. Their weapon was made according to ancient drawings. So, what you and see here is a revival of the centuries, which are far away from us," - said the academician Anatoly Kirpichnikov, opening the meeting of historical reconstruction.
Festival guests had an opportunity to see both military and peaceful side of Vikings life. About 150 residents of improvised Viking village recreated the life of Norwegians of early mediaeval time. It was also shown how to make Vikings weapons and ornaments.
