The following films that director Nikita Mikhalkov plans to make are the Sunstroke after Ivan Bunin and a biopic about the playwright Aleksandr Griboyedov.
"I was getting ready for this short story (The Sunstroke) for almost 37 years because I seldom happened to meet examples of such subtlety and sensual fullness in the great Russian literature” - Mikhalkov said at the recent creative meeting in Moscow.
Mikhalkov admitted that he personally copied this work of literature for 11 times by hand in order to better experience it. He pointed out that it is an extraordinarily difficult work from the point of view of direction.
Another project, on which Mikhalkov has already been working for a long time, is a film about life of Griboyedov. According to the director, the script writers (Mikhalkov, Irakli Kvirikadze and Aleksandr Adabashyan) researched lots of historical documents, including those confirming the point that Griboyedov’s death was a planned political murder.
Most likely, Nikita Mikhalkov, as soon as he has had some rest after Burnt by the Sun 2 will first release the Sunstroke.
