"Mir" Vehicles to Submerge in Geneva Lake

"Mir" submersible

Next research submersion of the “Mir” submersible vehicles is scheduled for 2011 and aimed at studying Geneva lake.
      
      Next summer famous Russian “Mir” submersibles will travel to Geneva lake with a research mission, supporting student exchange between Russia and Switzerland. The expedition will last at least 2 months.
      
      “Mir” submersibles and their carrier vessel “Akademik Keldysh” were built for oceanology research and rescue missions. They participated in deep-water shooting of “Titanic” remains for James Cameron’s well-known movie.
      
      Geneva lake is second largest fresh-water lake in Europe, located in Switzerland and France.
