“At last!” – exclaims a forester tired of hunting down looters in the neighbouring woods. In 2006, St. Petersburg will host a conference on forest exploitation and forest management. Welcome are those concerned with the issue from Europe and North Asia.
      
      
       The federal government signed a decree regulating all the procedures and appointing coordinators. The results of the conference, to be sponsored from non-budget funds, could be later on reported at a G8 summit in 2006. Russia will preside in G8 next year and hopes to come up with new proposals in this field.
