Monument to Peter the Great to be Unveiled in Biysk

September, 11th will see the unveiling of the monument to Peter the First in Biysk, the city that was founded as a fortress by decree of the famous emperor.
      The unveiling ceremony will be accompanied with some celebrations in the city. It was back in 2007 when the monument was expected to appear in Biysk. In 2010 the presentation of the monument was repeatedly postponed.
      The sculpture will be established in Garkavoy Park that will be subsequently renamed after Peter I. In turn, the present Peter I Boulevard will be renamed after Leonid Garkavoy - a well-known person in Biisk - the former chairman of the municipal executive committee.
