Moscow failed Car Free Day
Moscow public transport

Today, on the September, 22 The International Car Free Dayis being carried out in Moscow. It was supposed that the people would go to work by public transport and the ecological situation in the city improves. But the first thing Moscow did this morning - it stuck intraffic jams. Why?

The members Moscow administration, including major have come to work on foot. Green stickers and banners on buses and trams were calling for consciousness
and healthy life stle, but the action has failed. In spite of advices, most people have ignored this action. According to results of poll, only 28 % Muscovites were ready to leave their car and go to work on foot or by public transport. These people also said that they do Car Free Days once a week without any actions. Others were thinking about joining the action, but most people said that they won't refuse to go to work by car.

Some of them said that going to their places of work by public transport is very inconvenient, others carry their children to school or sports section by car. There is one more group of Russian capital tenants, who avoids public transport deliberately: some of them think is it an additional stress generator, instead of car, they consider a good alternative and even anti-stress remedy (very controversial claim, taking into account Moscow morning and evening traffic jams). Rest of them believes public is dangerous for health and life and very expensive.

All in all, Moscow has failed Car Free Day, and the city air has not become more useful for health and maybe life. By the way, it is the third time, but nobody notices it.
