Dwellers of Voronino Village in Istrinsky District of Moscow Region have financed and established a monument to front-line soldiers of the Great Patriotic War.
Officials of Istrinsky District announce the monument to be unauthorized and want it to be removed. The villagers are confident that the demolition is initiated by their rich neighbours living in Agalarov Estate.
The controllers motivate their demand with a statement that “slanted stele threatens collapsing”. The village elder Alexander Morozov points out: it is not about granite, but about the place where it stands.
Two years back Voronino villagers sent to administration lots of letters complaining that owners of Agalarov Estate were building a dam without permitting town-planning documentation and blocking free access of locals to the forest and the river, but no response followed. And now the village dwellers are accused of unauthorized construction of the monument.
