Trololo Becomes International Song of Love
Eduard Khil

Arcady Ostrovsky's Vocalese (aka Trololo) first time performed by Eduard Khil four and a half decades ago has now acquired lyrics in several languages.

Past summer the old record of the song absolutely unexpectedly for the singer became the season hit on the Internet. Then there occurred the idea of holding an international competition for the best lyrics to this tune. Winners of this unusual contest have been announced today in the presence of "Mr. Trololo", as the singer from Petersburg has been nicknamed in the USA after this music video.

The song has included couplets sent from England, Bulgaria, Italy, China, Nicaragua, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and France. Marcelo Lacayo - the winner from Nicaragua - has titled this joint composition The Song of Love.

As a result the couplets by winners have made one multilingual song, opening with lines by Muscovite Natalia Dmitrieva.

Altogether 217 persons from 19 countries took part in the contest.
