Work Week in Russia May Lengthen to 60 Hours

Russian union of industrialists and entrepreneurs prepared some amendments to the Labour Code of Russian Federation.

These amendments suggest legislating a work week lasting 60 hours and a “remote” work, and reducing a period, during which an employer is obliged to warn his employee about discharge, to one month instead of two. Some of amendments, which suggest allowing an employer to change work contracts ex parte due to “economic reasons”, originate from the crisis.

More amendments cover issues of fixed term employment contract, suggesting signing it with first-time employees and elder workers, who are 60 years and older and have a right for full work pension.

Suggested amendments are subject to discussion with the Ministry of Health, Federal Service for Employment and Labor Relations and Russian Federation of Independent Trade Unions.
