Two monuments to Hoffman will be erected in Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg)

For the 750th jubilee of Koenigsberg two sculpture installations devoted to the famous German fairy tale writer Earnest Theodore Amadeus Hoffman will be set up in the city embodying the blending of German and Russian cultures.
       The monuments would be created as gifts to the city by sculptors Michail Shemyakin and Vyacheslav Nazaruk, reported to journalists the mayor of Kaliningrad Yuriy Savenko.
       There is nothing surprising or scandalous about the fact that the city will be presented at once two monuments to Hoffman, who lived and created his wonderful fairy tales in Koenigsberg. We favor and support the good intentions of such famous artists as Shemyakin and Nazaruk the Mayor said.
       Mr. Savenko reminded that the monument to Hoffman in Koenigsberg had been destroyed during World War II, Interfax informs.
       We are proud that two famous artists at once want to pay the tribute to the storyteller. This can really become one of the most remarkable cultural and historical events in the range of jubilee celebrations, - assures the Mayor.
       In January of 2004 a peoples artist and a laureate of state prize of Russia Vyacheslav Nazaruk presented to the public eye his model of monument to Hoffman.
       In June the famous Russian artist and sculptor Michail Shemyakin visited Kaliningrad and negotiated about the possibilities of creating his sculpture installation devoted to the fairy tale writer.
