Petersburg Withstands Hurricane and 308th Flood

Hurricane, breaking windows in houses and damaging cars, raged throughout Saint Petersburg at night.
Around 4 a.m. it was very stormy in the city, with wind squalls reaching 18-20 meters per sec.
Stormy western wind that caused surge from the Finnish Bay has already changed its direction and the water level has started abating.
Thus, as the Petersburg Meteorology Centre reports, the 308th flood in the western capital of Russia is coming to an end.
Its peak occurred at 6.22 am (Moscow time) when the water level in the Neva River rose 180 cm higher than the zero level of Kronstadt tide gauge.
It is remarkable that the previous 307th flood in Saint Petersburg took place two years ago on the same day, November 16.
