First deputy of Moscow mayor Vladimir Resin has claimed that his idea of shifting Tsereteli’s monument to Peter the First has not met with support of community so far.
“As for the monument to Peter the First by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, I aired my opinion, and there was discussion in the society” Mr. Resin said in an interview for Russia-24. According to the deputy mayor, people mostly think that if the monument is already there, it is not worth spending budget money on its transferring.
“But there are other opinions as well”, - Vladimir Resin pointed out.
It should be noted that in generally Muscovites’ objections were not due to their love of Tsereteli’s works, but because of the amount that shifting of the monument would cost - it reached billion roubles. Muscovites consider that this money can be spent more reasonably.
