During the two weekend days – 20 and 21 November — road builders practically destroyed the historical House 1 in Tsvilling Street in Chelyabinsk, the capital of South Ural.
According to local mass-media, the small wooden house was planned to be taken down to expand the Truda Street and transfer tram ways in the area of the Chelyabinsk Philharmonics and the Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The house is still on the list of recognized objects of cultural heritage, where it was registered in 1977. In spite of the fact, the first deputy of head of local administration Nadezhda Kotova signed the permit to demolish the building.
According to archeologist Gayaz Samigulov, House 1 in Tsvilling Street used to belong to technologist Arnold Karpinsky in the 1880s – early 1900s. Later the manor passed to Stoll and the Co. Most likely, from the late 18th century the manor located here belonged to the well-known Cossack family of the Khanzhins, who then sold it to Arnold Karpinsky. The lately destroyed house was most probably constructed in the second half of the 19th century.
