State Duma has been proposed to tougher punishemts for the journalists attacks

A new bill was passed in the State Duma to tougher punishments for the journalists attacks, reported Irina Yarovaya, deputy chairman of Duma's committee of the constitutional legislation and state construction.
      
      The initiator of the amendments, Irina Yarovaya says the existing penalties for the journalists attacks are insufficient. The new bill proposes to change the second part of the Article 144 of the Criminal Code (obstruction of the professional journalists activity) and to establish penalties for the violence use against a journalist. Violence, not dangerous for the health will be punished with 2-5 years imprisonment.
      
      Also there is a proposition to add the third paragraph to the 144 article that will stipulate 6-15 years imprisonment for attacking a journalist with the use of dangerous for the health violence.
      
      Crimes against journalists attracted attention of the society with the attack on Oleg Kashin, Kommersant reporter. Indignation of the society was also caused by several killings of journalists.
