Unlicensed motherboards for Intel new processors appeared in Russia

The new Intel Core iX processors named Sandy Bridge are not announced yet, but the motherboards for them are already available in some Russian stores.

The second generation processors Intel Core iX have a new socket LGA 1155 that is not compatible with LGA 1156, used in a previous generation. Thus, to use the new product, there is a need to purchase a new board. In Moscow the new motherboard is already available in Electrozone stores, Savelovsky market or Gorbushka market centre.

The Intel company is wondering who might need a board without processor. They suggest motherboards are unlicensed. Russian Intel representative says these cases will be investigated judicially. Traditionally, processor vendors and component manufactureres sign a Non Disclosure Agreement that prohibits product distribution by a certain date.
