Water Tower to be Restored in Inta

Monument of industrial architecture - the emblematic water tower in Inta, Komi Republic - is planned to have been restored and turned into a museum by 2014.

9.7 million roubles will be allocated from the republics budget for the restoration purposes.
The water tower is a monument of industrial architecture with a rich set of ornamental devices in the design of the tower tiers and its top. It was built by prisoners in 1953-1954. The building project was designed by the political prisoner A.Tamvelius with the assistance of the architect Khomenko.

Since 1982 the water tower has been a part of the emblem of Inta. The building was exploited till the late 1990s. Presently it is not maintained and its decorative elements have come to a shabby condition and need urgent restoration works.
