Shooting of Rasputin Biopic to Feature Depardieu is in High Gear

French National Film Company together with VGTRK "Russia" is carrying out shooting of the feature film Rasputin in the Arkhangelsk Region.
      Since Sunday the film crew has been working in the Wooden architecture and folk art museum Malye Karely, where scenes from the Siberian village, Grigory Rasputina's native land are being shot.
      Actors Gerard Depardieu, Vladimir Mashkov, Konstantin Khabenskiy, Anna Mikhalkova, Kseniya Rappoport, Filipp Yankovsky, and Irina Alfyorova take part in film shootings in the Arkhangelsk Region. In crowd scenes actors of the Arkhangelsk Youth Theater are engaged.
      Casting for all comers wishing to appear in crowd scenes was held in Arkhangelsk. Slavic appearance was the basic requirement for all candidates.
      The film director is Josee Dayan. According to the film concept, it is a historical drama, mainly based on biographic facts from life of Grigory Rasputin in Petersburg after 1905.
