Siemens starts manifacturing Lastochka trains for Sochi-2014

German company Siemens has launched the production of the first 38 trains of total 54 on the base of Desiro electric trains.
      According to the Moscow Times, the value of the shipment came to 410 million euros. Electric trains were purchased by Russian Railways for transporting passengers for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. The first trains will start to operate in 2013 year.
      The final 16 electric trains Lastochka will be will be assembled in Russia at the Siemens and Aeroexpress joint venture, according to the Moscow Times. The source says the total contract value is about 585.9 million euros.
