Architect Alexander Kuptsov from Russia has received a special prize in the framework of the Vasilis Sgutas Award competition from the International Union of Architects.
The co-director of the Gikalo Kuptsov Architects bureau has developed an original concept of shelters for the homeless; these are made of recyclable materials by an inexpensive and widely applicable method, the Russian Union of Architects reports.
The second Russian prize-winner is the well-known architect Valentin Nazarov from St. Petersburg; he developed the General Plan of the northern capital in 2005.
