Bronze Age Burial Ground Destroyed in the Lipetsk Region

A Bronze Age barrow got under a dredge ladle. According to scientists, it was no less than 4000 years old.

Archeologists discovered the intrusion of a gas service into the site of the historical monument.

Representatives of the regional culture department and Lipetsk architects arrived at the site of occurrence. In a trench they found splinters of ancient jugs and remains of a man.

Similar barbarity had already happened in the history of Lipetsk barrows. In 2005 in the same way builders unexpectedly dug out a large burial ground. Now the main task of archeologists is to stop the activity of the gas company there.

This area in Lenino Village has kept archeologists alert for a long time already. In the 1960s they unearthed a large barrow with its famous gold birdie here, and now they have dug out the small one. Judging by the finds, archeologists assume that all the area of this cottage settlement stands on an ancient pagan cemetery, - correspondent Ruslan Harsiev says.
