Russian famous manned submersibles “Mir” will take part in the research programme, aimed at exploration of lake Leman’s bottom. Before submersion starts, both vehicles have to get international certification and testing by 14 of June, when first submersion is scheduled. The vehicles are accompanied with over 20 researchers form the Institute of Oceanology (Russian academy of sciences). “Mir” submersibles will collect samples of sediments for further pollution analysis and study water mass parameters. The research programme, developed by Lausanne scientists, involves Russian, Swiss, French, British and American researchers. Source: ITAR-TASS
