Russian University to Teach Art of Comics

The Moscow Financial and Industrial Academy opens the chair of manga and comics.

The chair will be headed by artist Pavel Sukhikh (aka Khikhus), the founder of the comic book festival ComMissiya.

The chair of comics in the Academy will be the first of the kind in Russia, whereas in the world there are similar university courses. About two years ago the academic discipline "composition of comics" appeared in the Edinburgh John Napier University, while in the University of Dundee, which is also in Scotland, comics have started to be studied as works of literature.
