Formal guard mounts resumed in Petropavlovskaya fortress

Ceremony of formal guard mounts in Petropoavlovskaya fortress of St. Petersburg has been resumed. The ceremony, taking place next to Naryshkin bastion was abolished in 1926. Now it takes place each Saturday at 11.45 till October.
      
      Contemporary ceremony of guard mounting has been worked out in St. Petersburg military commandant's office. The ceremony's character is emblematic. Its key points are platz parade and flag ceremony with flags of Russian Federation and St. Petersburg. Staff of infantry companies of honor guards and orchestra of Leningrad military district headquarters take part in it.
      
      Rite of guard mounting in the fortress of Petropavlovskaya has been was worked out during the rule of Emperor Paul I st and existed till beginning of 20th century. Traditionally, it was carried out on a square in front of Petropavlovsky cathedral.
