The Ban on Vegetable Imports from the EU to Complicate Joining the WTO

The ban imposed by Russia on the vegetables from the European Union contradicts the spirit of the WTO.

The EU ambassador in Moscow Fernando Valenzuela said, that the ban goes against the code of the Geneva-based free trade club, he also warned that the ban could undermine Russian chances of joining the World Trade Organization this year.

The reason of the ban is the the spread of a dangerous acute intestinal infection in Europe. Over 2,000 people have been infected and over 20 people died. According to Eu Observer, German scientists continued to hunt for the source of the E Coli outbreak, that had spreaded in Europe.
