Moscow Kremlin unavailable for tourists on the Day of Russia

Moscow Kremlin will be closed for tourists on June, 12 when the Day of Russia is celebrated. The reason is that many massive festive events will be carried out in the city.

However, some expositions of the Kremlin Museums will be open. They are Diamond Fund of Russia and Armory Chamber. Entrance to the exposition will be organized from the side of Borovitskaya tower only. Among the things canceled for June, 12 is guard mounting ceremony, horsed and foot-mobile ones, taking fancy of numerous tourists. The formal mounting of guards will take place a day before, on June, 11.

The Day of Russia, earlier Day of accepting declaration about sovereignty of Russian state, is one of the youngest public holidays in Russia. Officially it is a symbol of national unity and common responsibility for present and future of the country. The sense of this holiday is still not very clear to many Russians, but celebrating traditions are already forming: most people prefer to spend it outdoors.
