Police for tourists in St. Petersburg

A special police unit especially for defense of foreign tourists under program of civil development of St. Petersburg as a tourist center. New police units will defend tourists, provide security in the area of the main city sights, monitor guides if they have a license and parking of tourist coaches.
      
      Policemen of this unit will speak with guests of cultural capital of Russia their native languages and to be an intermediary between the tourists and other people in the cases of conflicts in hotels, restaurants and shops.
      
      St. Petersburg is the first Russian city, where the tourists from EU can stay visa-free during 2 days. This is still for tourists having come by cruise liners. Program of civil development includes prolongation of visa-free stay to 5 days.
