Russian most popular social network Vkontakte.ru will get an international domain in two month. At this moment the project has two domains vkontakte.ru and vk.com. 

      Russian authorities have been accusing the social network for many reasons, but company's representatives explain, that domain change has no relation with that. Servers will remain in Russia. The new domain is a serious bid for global expansion. 

      According to Pavel Durov, Vkontakte's founder, Vk.com domain is much shorter and easier to remember for foreigners. 

      Vkontakte network became the European leader by time spent by users on the online resource. In January, 2011, 23.1 million people visited the social network.
