Talgo Enters Russian Market

Russian Railways state-owned company has signed an agreement with Spanish Talgo for the development and purchase of seven Talgo trains.

Trains will run the routs Moscow-Kiev and Moscow-Berlin. It is expected that with the new trains the travel time from Moscow to Kiev will be reduced for 6 hours (from 13 hours to 7 hours), and for the route Moscow-Berlin — for 9 hours (from 27 to 18 hours).

The purchase price is not reported, but according to Valentine Gapanovich, senior vice president of RZD, Talgo's price ranges from 14 to 20 million euros.
