“Ignitor” to Be Discussed

Russian and Italian researchers are going to meet and discuss the future of the joint “Ignitor” project during the following two days.

      The “
Ignitor” project aims to build an experimental thermonuclear reactor in our country. The reactor, designed in Italy, is the next step of tokamak concept – an innovation in the field of controlled thermonuclear fusion.

The project will be based in
Kurchatov institute, where first tokamaks had been created. The “Ignitor” research programme is expected to make thermonuclear power engineering more real than it is today.
