Russia to Negotiate About CERN Membership

According to Russian science authorities, our country can soon become an associated member of European Organization for Nuclear Research. Negotiations on the subject will start within following months.

European Organization for Nuclear Research or CERN, established in 1953 and famous for Large Hadron Collider, is a world leading organization in the field of elementary particle physics.

Currently CERN has 20 member states, and Russia has an “observer” status, despite hundreds of Russian scientists, working on CERN projects. Associated membership offer more flexibility in research for Russian scientists.
