Russia is planning to implement a pre-contract to supply India with 80 Mi-17 helicopters in early 2012.
According to Sergey Kornev, representative of Rosoboronexport company, the deal was struck at Le Bourget Air Show in Paris. He addded, that India will be supplied with highly modified helicopters, according to the wishes of customers.

The Mi-17 medium multi purpose helicopter is a deep modernization of the well-reputed Mi-8 rotorcraft. The helicopter is a medium twin-turbine transport helicopter that can also act as a gunship.
