Maria Sharapova, 24, lost Grand Slam 6-3, 6-4 to Czeck tennis player Petra Kvitova, 21, at Wimbledon today.
At the beginning of the final game, Sharapova was expected to be a favorite. But due to lots of mistakes she couldn’t repeat her success of 2004.
The Russian played at the final of grand Slam for the first time since 2008. For the Czeck player the game was the greatest achievement at her career.
Maria has become a star of the world tennis after winning the Wimbledon in 2004, when she overcame Serena Williams at the tournament. She also won the U.S. Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008. Shoulder surgery in October 2008 slowed her career.
