Leading researchers in ancient history will discuss a recent discovery of a new human species, related to Neanderthals, in Altai.
New species, inhabiting Siberia before Homo sapiens, was discovered after analysis of full genome sequence, performed on ancient human tissues, found in Denisov cave. This species is related to Neanderthals and lived in Siberia about 50 000 years ago.
The week-long meeting, offering discussion possibilities for paleoanthropologists from Russia, Germany, Japan, China, USA, France, Czech Republic and Croatia, will take place in the Altai Territory not far from the site, where new human species was discovered.
