NATO is not giving up its plans of building Europe’s missile-defense system, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen claimed after a Russia-NATO Council session in Sochi yesterday.
The Secretary General emphasized, Brussels doesn’t want Russia to see any threat in the missile-defense system. And the Alliance is ready to cooperate with Russia in this issue and create the security in the region together.
The Foreign minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov noted that the sides have failed to reach agreement on sectoral approach, offered by Russia in November last year. The approach stands for an idea that anti-missile systems of Russia would shoot down a missile pointed at Europe, and NATO would do the same for Moscow.
