Russian amateur artist Ulyana Romanova from Volgograd has become the winner of the World Competition of Caricaturists in America.
It is the first time that such a high-ranking prize goes to a nonprofessional artist.
Her characters are funny and cheerful, without a single unkind or evil face. One cannot get offended by such caricatures, but on the contrary, one is more likely to want one’s portrait in this genre.
Ulyana Romanova works as a common cleaner in a Volgograd cafe. Nobody of the visitors or employees has an idea that this fragile woman has got a world prize and her works are now being discussed in the far-away American city of San Diego that she has never been to. The author had simply posted her caricatures to America.
