Fourteenth international cartography conference will open in the Russian State Library on July 10, 2011, according to Russian Geographical Society.
Participants will hear talks on reconnaissance mapping, military map making and state border mapping from over 60 well-known international experts.
The event will also host several exhibitions with old and rare maps on display, as well as with various items from collections of the State Museum of History. Russian Geographical Society appeared in 1945, when Emperor Nicholas II signed a decree on its establishment.
